May 21st - 25th Highlights
We squeezed A LOT in this week! So much so, that I forgot to take pictures of a lot of stuff.
In Science we learned about changes in matter. The kids weren't too into this topic, so I need to figure out how to make it more exciting for next year.
In Art & Music we made Seascapes with mixed media, while learning about, and listening to Frederic Chopin.
This was another project that the kids really enjoyed.
We worked on these over the course of four days.
In Health, We studied food and nutrition, the stomach, gallbladder, pancreas, liver and kidneys.
We learned about the food pyramid and the importance of a balanced, healthy diet.
We ran and played outside and enjoyed these beautiful, sunny days.
We learned about when Ohio became a state.
Working on their seascapes.
We learned about the Ohio flag and colored one of our own.
We learned about insects and watched a hornet build a nest.
My teacher planner arrived on Wednesday and I am SO happy with it!
It is a fun, colorful planner.
It is the perfect tool to help me organize for this upcoming school year. I'm excited to start planning!
The kids learned about grid maps and did a fun little project using the techniques.
The end results were so pretty! The Great Seal Of The State Of Ohio!!
Last day working on the seascapes.
They turned out SO awesome!
Once again, I am so amazed at how all three kids put their own touch on the project to make them unique. After all, that's what art is all about, right?
So cool!
In U.S. History we learned about Boats on the Mississippi River, The Battle of Tippecanoe, Tecumseh, Frances Scott Key and The Star Spangled Banner, The Erie Canal, and Traveling the Oregon Trail.
The kids really enjoyed talking about the Erie Canal. We were fortunate enough to take a field trip to Roscoe Village and ride a canal boat last fall, so it was neat to add more to what they already knew.
We also squeezed a math lesson in with our lesson on the Oregon trail. The kids were fascinated with how much the wagons could carry!
Ms. Martha made an appearance this week to help us learn about the abdominal organs.
And Kids Learning Tube never fails to provide fun little videos to reinforce what we've read about.
Whew! What a busy week it was. We are all ready for this long weekend!! Next week will be a short four day week, and our last week of school before summer break!
